Correct the existing botched repair
1. Alvarez Masterworks MD350 built in early 2000s. In 2017 I purchased it used and damaged from a Guitar Center. Apparently it was dropped from a standing playing position (strap failure?). It must have landed on the G tuning machine. Secondary impact on the right side, near the back binding.
2. The impact cracked the spruce soundboard along the right edge of the fretboard extension, from top of the sound hole to within an inch of the binding near the neck-body joint. The top edge of the soundhole was displaced toward the center of the soundhole by approximately 1/8″.
3. A luthier in Lincoln Nebraska botched the repair, which involved gluing a cleat inside the top as shown. I begged him to pull the neck back far enough to return to proper neck alignment. He warned that might break the guitar. I told him to do it anyway as the guitar would be useless to me otherwise. He FAILED to do as I asked. When I picked up the guitar the 1/8″ protrusion had been reduced to a 1/16″. I sanded the offending prow off…in frustration and disgust.
